Description of the problemI am from canada and own a 2007 jeep patriot 4x4. I only use my vehicle for highway driving and never take it off road. I only drive it with care. Recently, i brought my jeep to a dealership because of a strange noise. Through a service, it was determined my lower ball joints were excessively worn to the point of being a safety hazard. They needed to be immediately replaced in addition to the control arms. This cost approximately $1000 cad. In reading over the internet, this seems to be a common manufacturing problem with issues across the board. There has never been a recall. There is no way the ball joints should be needing replacement in a vehicle that is only 3 years old with normal driving use. Had i not brought my vehicle in for a service, this would not have been discovered and would possibly have lead to a serious accident. Jeep needs to address this problem immediately before someone gets hurt.
