Description of the problem	The jeep patriot after filling up the tank gas idles strangely and turns off. I do not top it off and it doesn't matter which gas station i use. After i remove the gas pump from the tank i hear what sounds like a gallon of water bubbling/emptying. Recently chrysler issued recalls for this same issue with other years but it there is multiple reports including my vehicle which have the same symptoms. On several occasions i've almost caused an accident after leaving the gas station because the vehicle shut off. After re starting several times the vehicle functions correctly. I've isolated the problem to the gas tank: if i leave the gas cap off for 3 minutes while hearing the gas tank bubble after removing the gas nozzle from the pump the vehicle has no problem and runs normal without shutting off or idling as if its flooding/chocking. The gas tank recall needs to be expanded to previous years.
