Description of the problemMy wife, (xxxxx), was driving this vehicle. She was in a drive-thru, moving at low speeds when the brakes stopped working. Robin was able to roll to a stop in the parking lot. I responded to the scene to inspect the vehicle and observed that the brake pedal assembly had become disconnected from the brake booster plunger rod, completely disabling the brakes. Upon further inspection, it was determined that there is a retainer clip which holds the plunger rod to the brake pedal. This retainer clip was not installed and was not found anywhere in the area to indicate it had fallen off. There has never been any work done to the vehicle around the brake pedal assembly. It is my belief that the factory did not install the retainer clip, or did not install one correctly. Thankfully, this happened in a parking lot and no lives were lost or hurt.
