| Description of the problem | When getting my oil changed the mechanic told me that i had an antifreeze leak. He could smell it and saw fluid around the radiator. Also that i may need a new radiator and should have the dealership check it out. I brought my 2 year old 2017 jeep grand cherokee to the dealership and was told i did indeed need a new radiator. The car was bought new by me and has 45000 miles on it. I asked the mechanic if this was common? Was there any indication of getting hit by a rock etc? I was told that it was a manufacturers' defect. That the radiator was leaking at the seams and needed to be replaced. I brought it to a second mechanic at a local auto body shop and he confirmed that it was a manufacturer's defect and the radiator needed replacing. I think this is more common than it should be for a new vehicle with low mileage. Both mechanics at the dealership and the autobody shop said they had replaced several of these recently. In fact it has been enough of a problem that they are keeping extra radiators in stock. I believe jeep should recall these radiators and pay for the cost of replacing mine. |
