Description of the problem	The alternator light came on in the vehicle while driving, then within about 10-15 minutes the radio had no sound although the screen was still lit. Other lights then came on such as the engine light, anti-lock brakes. About 5 minutes later, i had to stop at a stop sign, when taking off again, the car would barely move. It wouldn't go above about 10-15 miles per hour, then it picked up speed but i no longer had power steering. As i pull into a parking lot to get the car off of the road, the wipers turned on (even though the switch was off). When i got into the parking spot, the car could not be put into park due to the power issues. I had to hold my foot on the brake until the engine died. Within 2-3 minutes the engine died. Everything was dead, including the power locks. Then a few minutes later the dash would light saying the ignition or accessory unit was turned on but you couldn't do anything to turn it off. Everything would then turn off again. After sitting for about 30-45 min, the car would start back up but it was not driven anywhere, we had it towed. Both the alternator and battery needed to be replaced which is what caused the issues. The alternator is under a recall for my model/year/engine type but not for my vin. The recall was due to very similar issues, loss of steering control, loss of power.
