| Description of the problem | Brand new jeep grand cherokee (less than 1800 miles). Discovered oil and grease in the inside of the front rims. Took vehicle to dealership and was told that the cv joints on both of the front axles had failed. Advised by dealership that it would not be too safe to drive because of possible freeze/seizure of the axles. Turned vehicle in for warranty repair. Found online (including this site) that this is common on new vehicles from 2014 production dates. Vehicle is now scheduled to get replacement parts approximately on 5/30, but no guarantees. Notified jeep (chrysler llc) of the issue and opened an internal complaint case. |
