| Description of the problem | We took the vehicle in for a recall on the transmission electronic shift lever. We ask the technician to check the front passenger seat belt, as it had locked. We have owned the vehicle for three years and it has just a little over 25,000 miles. The technician indicated the seat belt retractor was working and would need to be replaced. This is a significant safety mechanism that i feel failed in a short period of time and therefore must have had a defect. Jeep sells the idea of the safety rating of it's vehicle but for a seat belt to fail in a three year period of limited use is placing the consumer at risk. |
