| Description of the problem | Vehicle had faulty dtcm (transfer case control module) at 73,000 miles. Faulty unit resulted in misreadings sent to transfer case causing transfer case to fail mechanically. No codes or artifacts left behind from fault. Dtcm and transfer case both needed to be replaced due to faulty control module. This issue is commonly reported online across jeep forums for vehicles using this dtcm, and fails commonly. When inquiring with dealership on repairs, dealer stated this part is known to fail commonly but no tsb has been issued. Opened warranty case with fca regarding failure of mopar branded part on vehicle. Fca warranty department was only willing to split repair cost 50/50 (vehicle outside of power train warranty) even after noting this is a known issue. |
