| Description of the problem | Vehicle was being refueled, ( fuel level was approx 1/3 full and was being completely filled). Vehicle would not start after fueling and was towed to a nearby mechanic for diagnosis and repair. Problem was diagnosed as a fuel pump failure. Upon removal of fuel pump from gas tank, and replacement, vehicle again operated normally. An examination of the failed fuel pump revealed that the fuel pump electrical harness connection had overheated and melted - certainly a very dangerous condition for a component that resides in the gas tank. |
