| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. The contact stated that while driving, he heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact then noticed smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact stated that he noticed that smoke came from the engine but noticed a wiring odor. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted.
