Description of the problemI am writing to you about an area of concern regarding my 2012 jeep grand cherokee overland. For no reason i have a crack in my windshield while the car was parked. This crack extends vertically from the top center of the windshield around the rear view mirror and then extends horizontally the remainder of the way. I understand cracks happen, though when i did some searching around the internet, i notice that this is far from an isolated incident. I have found dozens of threads on the same topic... And not just a crack that appears for no reason, but all these cracks are in the same location. This is not a coincidence. Below are a few (one contains pictures). Http://townhall-talk. Edmunds. Com/direct/view/. F19a60e (scroll down to entry # 8-10) http://www. Jeepforum. Com/forum/f309/2012-overland-hemi-cracked-windshield-1362551/ http://www. Truedelta. Com/jeep-grand-cherokee/problems-144/2012 (scroll about halfway down) these pictures show an identical crack to the one that i have experienced. Also of concern is that in the one post the user states that the windshield is on back-order from jeep... Clearly jeep is selling a lot of replacement windshields. As we all know the windshield is one of the most dominant safety features on a vehicle and it is clear that there is a defect in the vehicle that is causing these cracks, likely a structural issue with the jeep grand cherokee. It would seem to me that an issue with a vehicle compromising the single most important safety feature of a car isn't to be taken likely and warrants investigation. I would be happy to provide you with pictures and can make myself available to speak at your convenience. Also you should note that upon taking my car to the dealer, they were explicit that this was not a warrant-able item, leaving me with no issue than to submit a claim on my insurance. Kind regards, steve gonda
