| Description of the problem | While driving on a highway, the battery light came on and within minutes, the entire electrical system began to shut down. First the navigation went, then all lights on the dashboard followed by power steering, anti-lock brakes. The car died. The alternator went bad and eventually caught on fire at my mechanic shop while transferring the vehicle inside after being towed. The alternator on my jeep was the 180amp and therefore was not covered under the recall p60. My local jeep dealership initially told me it was covered and then said it was not. |
