Description of the problem	My 2008 jeep grand cherokee (5. 8l) has a persistent problem where the engine will shut off unexpectedly. Problem has been ongoing for 9 mounts, and 3 different dealers have been unable to determine the cause of the problem. Problem occurs in all driving conditions, and is not repeatable. Sometimes engine shuts off very briefly (~. 25 second) and picks up with just a 'hiccough' in normal operation, sometimes engine shuts off for > 2 seconds, and i need to shift to neutral, and re-engage the key to start the engine. The problem occurs at random times (on cruise control on straight, flat highway at 65 mph, idling at stop light, accelerating into traffic, slowing for exit ramp). Sometimes i will drive for hundreds of miles without an occurrence, sometimes the engine cuts out 5 times in a 5 mile drive. Problem is not repeatable, and not predictable.
