Description of the problemThe gear shift module is badly designed it uses a brush that drags along contacts to tell tranny what gear is selected. Over time though some of the conductive material starts to rub off and make connections between 2 or more of the contacts, when this happens the ecu and tranny can't tell what gear it's in and goes into limp mode 20 mph max a very dangerous situation i'm lucky i didn't get rearended by a very pissed off semi ruck driver recently. I'm sure some one has been injured and possibly killed by this badly designed and dangerous module.. Chrysler and benz were partners in 2007 and benz uses a touchless ( magnetic) system much safer. Jeep just keeps on putting in same part no improvements have been made the tcb tells dealer to put in a new part. The only warning sign you might get is all of the circles around the prnd on your dash will be lit showing you the module has no idea what gear it's in but no warning lights or buzzers. This has happened many times since 2010 always with the vehicle moving and all of a sudden very dangerous!!
