| Description of the problem | 2007/ 30 000 miles. Shifter malfunctions intermittently and causes loss of acceleration by going neutral or sticking in 1st gear unexpectedly. Typically, all the letters are lift prnd simultaneously and check engine light comes on. Stopping and restarting (annoying and dangerous in highway driving) seems to reset the shifter. Dealer says esm part no 52124138ad is responsible for the problem. I believe for safety reasons, there should be a recall on this part before somebody gets killed as a sitting duck in the middle of the highway. |
