| Description of the problem | Driving at highway speed in drive, transmission downshifted into 4th gear without manual assistance. Pulled over to side of road and attempted to shift back into drive unsuccessfully. I then shifted into park and back into drive. Dashboard indicator said the transmission remained in 4th even though the shifter was in drive. Shut vehicle off and then restarted the engine. I then put the vehicle into drive and resumed my trip. Also, on a second occasion, driving with transmission in drive, starting from a stop, transmission downshifted into 1st gear. Pulled over and shut off engine and restarted. Put transmission into drive and resumed trip with no further problem. |
