| Description of the problem | I purchased a 2007 jeep grand cherokee in august of 2006. 11/11/06 this is the second time the automatic shift stick has malfunctioned and would not go into park. The jeep has e remote starting feature with a safety that will lock the shift lever in place until the key is inserted into the ignition. This locking mechanism is what keeps breaking. We currently have 4700 miles on this vehicle. The dealership has fixed the shifter both times at no charge, but i certainly don't plan on having to replace this every 2500 miles. They need a design change. *jb |
