Description of the problem	I was driving on the freeway in san jose, ca and the engine light comes on and a flashing red electric light also. I immediately noticed an immediate loss of power in the vehicles engine and when i pressed the gas pedal the jeep didn't respond at all. When going up a hill the jeep loses power and i have to downshift in to lower gears just to climb the smallest hills. I took the vehicle into the dealership and the parts department employee said that my swill values are bad. I found evidence that the engines in this 3. 0l turbo diesel have been recalled in europe due to this design defect. The repairs are $5500-$6000 and their are no guarantees that this will not happen again. Why has this issue not been addressed here in the usa? I am a full time student with very little extra income. Because the engine light is on this vehicle will not pass a smog test. Basically i have a jeep that in a few months will be non operational with a $500 an month payment.
