Description of the problem	Was attempting to merge onto a busy freeway and accelerated up to 60mph when the jeep suddenly slammed into second gear and refused to shift. I couldn't get it to do anything other than "limp" very roughly to the shoulder. If people hadn't slowed down i would have been busted from several points. Took it to the local jeep dealership and they told me that it happens with jeep grand cherokees all the time and that they recommended replacing the esm but stated that it doesn't always fix the problem and that they've replaced thousands only to have it recur months later. This is going to get someone killed.
