| Description of the problem | 2006 jeep grand cherokee. Consumer requests reimbursement for recall repairs. *smd the consumer stated the costly repair of the shifter assembly did not successfully address the real defective part, the final drive controller module software, which was finally made public in 2013. In early 2010, the vehicle unintentionally shifted from drive into neutral, while the consumer was driving. Luckily, she was able to coast out of the roadway into a parking lot. The dealer mistakenly diagnosed the condition as a defective shifter and replaced it. At the end of may 2011, the vehicle once again shifted from drive into neutral on its own. The consumer no longer owns the vehicle. *jb |
