| Description of the problem | 2005 jeed grand cherokee failure of interior door latch handles due to cracked plastic door panel which prevents operation of the door from the interior. This has occurred on 3 of 4 doors with the 4th door possibly failing in the near future. This is a severe safey issue preventing occupants from exiting the vehicle in an emergency. There are numerous reports on the internet. Although, internet reports are frequently unreliable, there are hundreds of postings discussing this condition. Further, at least one report indicates that chrysler has agreed to replace the door panels for a $50 co-pay; but my contact with chrysler was not successful. This is a serious issue that merits consideration for a recall. *kb |
