Description of the problem	Problem******wife and myself were unaware we were stepping on the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time.******** i figured it out twice in time to avoid wreck by standing on brake with left foot. My 7 month pregnant wife while standing on brake with ample stopping distance rear-ended another vehicle. I believe there are two contributing factors to design flaw in this '05 jeep grand cherokee. One is same-level positioning of brake and accelerator pedals and the super quiet "quiet steel" composition of cockpit. Made it possible for us to be unaware of engine noise while stepping on gas and brake at he same time. The engine pushed the vehicle thru a stop while standing on the brake and we could not hear the engine accelerating. In my mind this is a big deal safety issue. My wife had an accident just last night with minor damage and we intend to start dealing with the retailer tonight after work. *jb
