| Description of the problem | While driving down the freeway the hvac vents suddenly began to blow hot air in ac mode & switch back & forth. Later after reading the haynes manual i did a diagnostic on the heater system & got a code 54 showing a blend door problem. Researching this on the internet jeep forums discovered that many grand cherokee limited have a blend door failures due to the design (plastic pins etc) on the temp doors in the system. My problem w/ this is what happens when this fails in the winter & your defroster won't blow hot air only cold. Seems like a safety related problem to me. From the internet forums it sounds like a lot of the limited series 1999-2004 have this problem. |
