| Description of the problem | The vehicle is a 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo and was a rental vehicle. I found out that it is possible to have this vehicle in park, but not have the shift lever locked in the park position. My wife (in the passenger seat) bumped the shift lever as she reached for one of the a/c controls. She was alone in the vehicle. The vehicle went into reverse and rolled backwards across a macdonalds parking lot into another vehicle. This incident had significant possibility for death and/or serious injuries. Police were called but declined to respond to an incident on private property.*ak |
