Description of the problem	The part of factory installed gas tank skid plate broke. The piece underneath the tank back part fell to the ground while the forward part remained attached. If i was backing up, the plate could have caught on the ground forcing plate into the gas tank spilling gas and possibly causing a fire from the friction or hot exhaust . At the time i was just pulling out a gas station when i heard a scraping noise. I pulled to the curb and looked under the car and saw the plate hanging there. If i had backed up i could have easily ruptured the gas tank and cause a fire. This plate is attached to the main skid plate by welds and is a very heavy gage and will not bend easily. What would happen if the front of the plate fell while i was traveling down the highway at highway speeds?
