| Description of the problem | My 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo was acting like the door was open (overhead computer warning driver door open and interior lights would not go out), but was visibly/physically closed. The windows, door locks and mirror controls were not working. Upon further investigation of the main wires coming in from the body of the jeep into the door, (door jam/black boot) it was clear what the problem was. There was a black severed wire and a partial severed orange/white wire. There was no clear solution why this has happened. There has been multiple reports of this being a common problem with the wiring harness. This should be recalled as it is obviously a manufacturers defect and is costing people a lot of money to fix. |
