Description of the problem	I bought this car for my daughter used and the fuel mileage was poor. I have had this car to multiple shops and even a dodge dealer who did not diagnose the problem correctly. I found a new garage that was very honest and they found that the valve inside the gas tank that controls where the fuel gets transferred to was faulty. This caused gas to be sent to the catalytic converter and vapors to be sent to the engine causing the car to stall within a 1/8 a 1/2 of a mile after filling the tank. The car would basically shut down and stall out causing control issues. This also caused damage to the converters and also the coal filter on the gas tank. It has taken many dealers to find one that could diagnose the problem and after about $3000 in repairs it is finally being fixed. This fault in the valve could cause a fire with heat in the converter and is very dangerous. I have seen a lot of information online with other dodge compass customers having this problem and the only way to fix it, is to replace the gas tank. The other option is to never fill up your gas tank. This is a safety concern that i believe should be looked into.
