| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owned a 2010 jeep commander. The contact stated while his wife was parked at the supermarket his wife attempted to start the vehicle twice with no avail. The third time she attempted she stepped out the vehicle after she smelled abnormal fumes and someone alerted her that there were flames coming from under the vehicle. The fire was located on the front passenger side where the engine was located. The fire department was called and extinguished the flames. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a lot without being diagnosed as totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure, and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.
