Description of the problemOur 2007 jeep commander has had a recurring issue for over a year while in operation whether in motion or stationary, vehicle will shut off randomly. When you attempt to restart the vehicle, it starts right back up again. The random vehicle shutdowns take place in all driving conditions and regardless of uphill or downhill driving. Brought the jeep commander to the jeep dealership and they replaced the ignition switch as part of a recall. This did not resolve the problem at all and the dealership was unable to figure out causes for random stalling even when the commander failed during testing with technicians. I replaced virtually every sensor i could imagine including, throttle position sensor and idle air control sensor, egr, map sensor, air intake sensor and the pcm. No luck, we have the same random stalling and the procedure is, restart the vehicle in neutral for recovery while in motion. The restart does not fail, but the random stalling continues sometimes five or six times on a 100 mile trip. This is dangerous and can get someone or their family killed.
