Description of the problemI was 270 miles away from home when the passenger side seatbelt would not lock. I brought it into the local jeep dealership to inquire if there was some easy fix or if they had a part on hand. They informed me that they could in fact have the part the following day. I had to return to work the next day so that was not going to be an option. The part i was told would be a little over $300 for parts and labor. After some research i discovered that this seems to be a problem with my year of vehicle. My passenger had to ride the way home in the back seat. Not exactly ideal. Considering the fact that the seatbelt is quite possibly the most effective safety device of any vehicle i can not imagine jeep not putting out a recall for the safety of its consumers. I understand the concept of warranty on a vehicles engine, but a seatbelt is not something i would think needs replacement. Not everyone has money to pay for this fix, nor should they be asked to pay for this serious defect that could be the difference between life and death. I love my vehicle i just expect more concern from the company that made it.
