Description of the problem	Purchased a 2018 jeep cherokee in may of 2019. A few months in to ownership i had an odd occurrence where all of the lights on my gear shift prnd were all lit up red. And the warning notation on dash said "service shifter". It was alarming but happened once or twice over a period of several months so i thought it was a fluke or mishap. Fast forward to march of 2020, right under a year of ownership and the service shifter problem has become near constant. I will hear a 'ding' in the middle of driving, sometimes at high speeds on the freeway, the gear shifter will turn all red again and the message appears on screen. While this is happening you cannot get anything else to come on the screen.... Fuel economy or speed, which i use regularly in my vehicle. ---i contacted my dealership and was told there are no active recalls on this vehicle and that i am out of basic warranty and the powertrain warranty would only cover engine/transmission, thus not helping me in this situation. After hearing that from them i decided to look up this issue online and imagine my surprise to see i am not alone with this issue. I came across numerous similar complaints. Please look into issuing a recall for this issue as it comes on suddenly and is startling when you are driving and it happens. It has become quite an unsettling experience driving this vehicle that i have owned less than a year.
