Description of the problem	My 2017 jeep cherokee. Message came up saying "service shifter" while driving down the interstate and i was not shifting at the time, light stayed on all the way home. Took it to nearest dealership. They diagnosed it as needing part 6md111x9aa or new part number 6md111x9ab. Which is the shift control module. To start with they told me they ordered the part and it would be ready in a few days. Then they told me i was number 70 on the list waiting for the part, it would not be available until march 2018. To come pick it up it is safe to drive. Jeep's 800 number has not verified safety yet. The information i can find questions it's safety, it sends all control signals to engine to shift and park.. It's been a week already with refusal to provide loaner vehicle. Jeep consultant is supposedly escalating case. I also had some kind of transmission recall serviced the prior week, but was told that recall was not related to this issue. I have not picked it up from dealership, i am waiting for them to put safety guarantee in writing.
