| Description of the problem | "service shifter" message appeared while driving a short distance from home. Warning was accompanied with red lights on the prndl shifter consol. Car continued to drive normally, so i continued home, and shut off car. After a short time, restarted car, and fault had cleared. With a little research, i have found many complaints from other jeep cherokee owners with this same issue, and it is an expensive fix. The car is just past the 360000 mile warranty limit by 70 miles! I am actually surprised i made it that many miles, before this occurred. I will be taking the car in on monday, but for some reason, i am not hopeful, based on other owner experiences. |
