Description of the problem	After i start the car up in the morning or after it has sat for awhile, it will run for about 5 minutes and then the engine will completely die, the battery light comes on and the screen says "shift to p then desired gear". When it does this, i lose throttle power, breaks and steering. I have to put the car in park and try to turn it off, when i try and turn it off it cranks like it is trying to start and won't. After i get the car turned off and go to turn it back on, it cranks really hard for about 45 seconds before starting. Then it smells like something is burning, it will do this 4-5 times before it starts running ok. After it dies, the transmisson feels like it is jumping/jerking and the car will randomly ding like it does when the windshield wiper fluid is low but nothing shows up on the screen or in the messages. It has died in the middle of an intersection, with the sterring locking up and the throttle losing power, this could have caused a major accident.
