Description of the problem	About a month ago, my daughter backed the car out of the driveway and the car would not shift back into drive. After turning the car off and back on, i was able to get it back into drive. It seemed fine after that. I thought it was just a freak thing. About two weeks ago, a warning light came on saying "service shifter". We took the car in to the dealership to have them fix it. They ordered parts but said it would take about 4 days for the parts to come in. When the parts finally came and were installed, the "service shifter" light was still on. I was then told they had just received a company wide memo about this problem and now needed to replace the entire shifter. I was told that the part would take weeks to maybe months before it would come in. They told me the car was safe to drive until the parts came in but not sure if they even know. I've looked this problem up online and seems to be a problem that many people are having.
