Description of the problem	The 2016 trailhawk version of the cherokee has a dangerous tendency when descending steep bureau of land management roads with grades of 8-12%. This model was supposedly designed to maintain control when going downhill on these types of grades. If you shift it into first gear in low range, it cannot hold the grade as the engine has inadequate compression to slow the car and the transmission will shift into 2nd even though the shifter is in first gear. The car will accelerate downhill a an extremely high rate and just before it hits the redline, it will shift into second gear, this causes the car to quickly accelerate until you apply the brakes to bring it under control. This will get someone seriously injured or killed. I submitted a review of this and other issues to jeep and they simply advised me to speak to a jeep dealer which i did. I explained this issue to them and they had no solution for this. Because of this we sold the car in less than one year. We bought it in april of 2016 and traded it in this month.
