Description of the problem	Windshield crack due to stone being thrown up at highway speed. Took approx. 10 days to get a new windshield. During this time the windshield crack grew and went down into the heated part of the windshield. In the cherokee the heated windshield is automatically on as long as the car is running. When the crack went into the area of the heating coil within the windshield it caused a short in the windshield creating an arc of red hot electricity. This in turn caused the windshield to heat up, melting my windshield wiper blade. There is no way to turn off this heated windshield and there is no software redundancy to recognize the problem and turn off this circuit. The car has to be turned off and cannot be driven to a dealership for repair. To do so would jeopardize the entire vehicle and occupants. A big fire could ensue. To be fair, jeep has been notified. However, i thought you should know about this as this feature is being used by many manufacturers and there could be serious consequences as a result of fire.
