Description of the problem	Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. While the vehicle was stationary, the power liftgate would not open when prompted with a key fob. Upon opening the liftgate manually with a key, the contact noticed smoke exiting from the cabin of the vehicle and flames under the control module near the spare tire. In addition, the contact noticed that there was approximately a half of gallon of water in the bottom of the trunk of the vehicle. The contact extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. Paulding chrysler dodge jeep ram of dallas, georgia (1246 old griffin rd, 30157 (770)443-2277) was made aware of the failure and sent an inspector to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and determined that the vehicle was already repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 15v393000 (structure) and that it was no longer the manufacturer's responsibility.
