Description of the problem	My husband and i purchased a used 2014 jeep cherokee limited 4 cylinder for our daughter in 2017. We noticed early on that it had shifting problems with its gears. It would sort of jerk and lunge forward when shifting gears. We purchased the vehicle from a carmax in north carolina. We also purchased the maxcare extended warranty, good for 60 months and 100,000 miles. The car had 38,000 miles when we purchased it. We had it a few weeks before returning it to carmax complaining about the jerking. Carmax said they tried a few things, but ultimately said it couldn't be fixed; that it was just a "jeep thing." and advised us to take it to a jeep dealer if our problems persisted. The transmission issues did persist. It is an ongoing problem every day. It jerks, lunges, doesn't accelerate properly or shift gears properly, and feels unsafe. The jerking happens on city streets mostly, although it jerks almost any other time as well. It will even lunge forward after coming to a stop like at traffic lights for example. A jeep dealer in 2019 performed a software update to the power train module saying jeep was aware of the problems, but the software update would fix it. The update had no affect on the car. No improvement was observed. The car is scheduled to return to the shop for the same issue tomorrow. My daughter feels unsafe in this car.
