| Description of the problem | I was having some issues with my 2014 jeep cherokee in january 2018. The screen was showing service transmission, shift car to park, then to desired gear. During this time i was stuck in the middle of a city street unable to move. The shifter was in drive, but the vehicle clearly wasn't. After several minutes, it finally shifted to drive, and i was able to drive the few miles home, but the vehicle stayed in a low gear. The dealer checked it out and told me i needed to pay for a software update. Having a transmission malfunction while driving down the road is a serious safety issue, but i was led to believe this would fix the issue.
