| Description of the problem | While driving in a suburban environment, i was coasting to yield for merging traffic. After checking for oncoming vehicles, i pushed the gas pedal to merge, but the car would not accelerate causing me to nearly get hit by another driver. This seems to occur only on rolling stops/yields, and appears to be a result of the transmission holding third gear, and not downshifting into first or second gear to provide adequate acceleration. This happens frequently and is more pronounced on hills. In order to regain adequate acceleration, you must mash the throttle which produces a hard jerk and clunk as the transmission engages a lower gear. |
