| Description of the problem | When decelerating for a speed zone, the transmission downshifted from 5th to 4th, the rpms went up approximately 1000 and the car accelerated. The 'unintended' acceleration characteristic is also evident on downhill driving in the mountainous terrain. This occurs or a frequent basis and was evident prior to, and after, a transmission/tcm replacement. My wife no longer feels safe driving this vehicle and has gone back to using her subaru for commuting. There are obvious issues with the engine/transmission control firmware/hardware which need to be addressed. |
