Description of the problem	About 7am on august 3, 2014, i was operating the above vehicle in light traffic on a divided highway. While traveling at about 20mph,the vehicle suddenly bucked and the transmission light came and a message came on stating to put the vehicle into park. At the same time, the power steering also stopped working. I pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and put the vehicle into park. I waited a period of time before i attempted to put the car back into drive. At this time the check engine light was flashing and the display was flashing in red to check transmission. The drive button was flashing when i re-engaged the car into drive. The engine sounded like it was revving and the vehicle would not go above 5mph. I was less than a mile from home and traffic was light so i drove it back to my house. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership where they explained that this is a "software problem". I am notifying the ntsb as this seems to be a major problem with this vehicle that should most certainly be a mandatory safety recall if this "software problem" is affecting other vehicles. I would not want to see someone experience this problem on the highway.
