| Description of the problem | After owning the car for approximately 1 year, i suddenly smelled gasoline while driving and noticed the car was hard to start. Turns out the fuel pump unit has a crack in the top which is causing the problem. I am presently awaiting the $650 part and the car will be repaired next week ($190 labor). The thing is, i was initially told by my reputable car repair shop owner that he has seen this problem several times over and is pretty sure there is a recall against it, thus no initial charge. For whatever the reason, i have not been able to find another reported incident of this specific nature. Nonetheless, this is a potential safety issue and is why i am reporting it (in addition to having to spend $840 to repair the problem). |
