Description of the problem | 2013 hyundai veloster non turbo 39,000 miles catalytic converter failure and engine failure while driving. While driving the vehicle on a rural road, the engine shut down and the car lost power. I noticed smoke from the exhaust when the engine shut down. I was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. Vehicle was towed to dealer where it was found the catalytic converter had failed. It was noted that the engine had a loud ticking sound that it did not have prior to the catalytic converter failure. The engine is going to be replaced with cost share from hyundai. This is not a unique issue and has been recalled for the same exact same issue in the kia soul with the 1. 6l engine. This issue should be addressed in full by the manufacturer. |
