Description of the problem | While driving at highway speed the engine lost power and would not accelerate. Took the car to the dealer. Dealer inspected and found the catalytic converter was plugged again. The previous failure (separate report) in june 2019 caused the engine to fail. The vehicle had a new short block installed along with the catalytic converter. With 9000 miles on the new short block and cat, the cat is plugged again and the engine has a distinctive ticking sound that was present when the engine failed the last time. Hyundai has an issue that needs to be addressed. The vehicle is serviced at recommended intervals or before. We use standard gasoline with no aftermarket additives. |
