Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owned a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not properly accelerate. After stopping and exiting the vehicle, flames and smoke were present under the hood coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. There were no police or fire reports filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The contact researched the failure and found that it was common among other velosters of the same year. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000. |
