| Description of the problem | I own a 2017 hyundai sonata and this week the trunk release would not operate. In checking the release mechanism i discovered a plastic part in the trunk release mechanism had broken. The reason for this complaint is that broken part does not allow the trunk to open manually from the inside of the trunk. If a child of adult person was accidentally or purposely put in the trunk they would not be able to escape. Attached are a couple photos showing the trunk release mechanism with the yellow manual safety release and a photo showing the broken plastic part. This is a safety issue and consumers should not be force to pay to have this part replaced by teh manufacturer. |
