Description of the problem	100 % brake failure. 40 mph,heavy traffic, clear sky, dry pavement and approaching red traffic light. Stepped on brake pedal, pedal fluttered as if anti locking brake activity was be activated. Car continued to free wheel forward, i stepped harder on brake pedal and pedal began pushing back to me. The harder i pushed the brake pedal the more it pushed back - there was no braking action. The car had to be stopped with the emergency brake. As the car came to a stop a yellow caution/malfunction symbol appeared in the dash console for an instant then disappeared. I was not able to see what the symbol was.
