Description of the problem	I took my vehicle to the hyundai dealer and requested an emissions inspection, a safety inspection, a correction of all recall maintenance items, and an oil change. I told the representative that i did not want to order the 60,000 mile service since i still had not reached the 60,000 mile mark, and wanted to wait for a short period since my daughter's college tuition was due this month. The representative requested and drove the vehicle for approximately 40 miles as part of the emissions test and completed all requested services. I drove the vehicle home (approximately 10 miles) and parked it in the garage. The next morning i entered and started the vehicle; however, the gear shift was completely locked and i could not release it. Moreover, the check engine warning light on the dashboard appeared. The check engine light was not active prior to executing services. The car was parked on a level surface in the garage and the gear was properly placed in the park position. The emergency brakes were not engaged because the vehicle was not on an incline. A check of the internet revealed that the problem is occurring in a number of sonatas; however, there is no recall for this defect noted on the nhtsa's safety recall site.
